NEXT GEN CITY: Smart City Not Only for Generation Z
creative competition for young talents
The NextGen City competition is designed for high school and university students interested in smart cities, villages, or regions who want to showcase their creative ideas through a short comic, graphic novel, manga, or video (reels) focused on environmentally, economically, or energy-efficient solutions. The competition offers cash and material prizes, certificates, and free participation in the URBIS conference, with results announced in November 2025 at VSB - Technical University of Ostrava. The event is organized by the CESMOD project in collaboration with VSB-TUO faculties and other project partners.
Do you have a head full of ideas? Do you lack imagination? Do you enjoy creativity?
Are you interested in SMaRT cities and do you want to help improve life in a city or village?
Are you thinking about how to use technology for a more efficient and sustainable future?
If so, join our creative competition and create a short one-page or maximum two-page comic, graphic book, manga comic, or Reel with your own interesting and smart idea for Smart Cities that is environmentally, economically, or energy-efficient.
You can become your own hero in the comic or video, or invent an interesting story on this theme. Choose the format, genre, and visual style yourself.

You can also use AI tools - what matters most isn't just the execution, but especially the efficient idea and smart solutions with SMART impact.
What You Can Win
All submissions that make it through the preliminary selection will receive a certificate of participation.
The top 10 entries will receive material prizes and free participation in the URBIS conference.
And the three best proposals will also be rewarded with cash prizes.
Results announcement will take place during the week of November 10-15, 2025 as part of Týden techniky at VŠB-TUO.

The competition is held as part of the CESMOD project and under the auspices of VSB-TUO (Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Faculty of Economics).
External committee members (beyond the project consortium) will collaborate on the evaluation to help assess the best ideas. The committee, led by Dagmar Juchelková consists of representatives from TGA Holding, s.r.o., Deloitte, KPMG, MPO a journalists Ivany Gračkové, Michaela Beckmanna, Rút Bízkové a Tomáše Hünera.
